OPTIONAL TOURS

Local tours of cultural and environmental character will be organized, exclusively for the participants of the Conference. Through these tours, the participants will have the opportunity to get a glimpse of the cultural and environmental heritage of the city.

  • All tours will be escorted by professional English-speaking guides.
  • All tours are subject to minimum number of registrations. In the event the minimum number of registrations for any tour will not be reached, the participants will be reassigned to an equivalent alternative tour.
  • Registrations for the tours can be made through the registration/accommodation form.

Gaudí’s Barcelona


Discover the wonderful world of Gaudí, who left his print on the architecture profile of Barcelona. He supposed an important influence for the modernist movement, offered this city some of the most fascinating buildings.

· Ciutadella, Arc de Triomf, Plaça Catalunya & Eixample: Scenic view
· Casa de les Punxes: is really a residential block built in the shape of medieval castle where the bus will stop.
· Passeig de Gràcia: walk throught this elegant, majestic boulevard, that was a showcase for Barcelona's bourgeoisie at the turn of the 19th century.
· Casa Milà or La Pedrera: a blend of fantasy and functionality which has its special forms remembering the waves of the sea (only exterior visit).
· Casa Batlló: the splendour of Gaudí who was able to work on this project with total creative freedom (only exterior visit).
· Sagrada Familia: visit the Gaudí's best-known work that has become an undisputed symbol of Barcelona and been under construction since 1882.

CASA MILÀ – LA PEDRERA
This magnificent building represents the absolute pinnacle of Antoni Gaudí's incredible career. It's a true modernista masterpiece, crafted to meet the emerging social demands of the time, while still paying homage to his greatest source of inspiration: the beauty of nature and the organic forms that surround us. Additionally, it was declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1984.

CASA BATLLÓ
The Casa Batlló is an absolute feast for the eyes! Its colour and fantasy captivate passers-by on the Passeig de Gràcia. Standing proudly at the halfway point of this stunning boulevard, the UNESCO World Heritage Site stands in stark contrast to the neighbouring houses.

SAGRADA FAMÍLIA
During Gaudí's lifetime, he completed the crypt and the Nativity façade at the side, which have now been declared a World Heritage Site. We are delighted to announce that thanks to the incredible generosity of private donors, we have been able to resume construction work on this exciting project. The surviving models and drawings have played a crucial role in this progress, allowing us to continue building on the foundations of our past.

PLAÇA REIAL
This square is the place to be in Barcelona! Its elegant ambiance, accentuated by the fountain, streetlamps and palm trees, makes it one of the city's busiest and most vibrant spots, particularly at night.

PLAÇA SANT JAUME
The Plaça Sant Jaume has been the beating heart of the city, its political centre almost since its inception. Today, the Plaça Sant Jaume is an open space, a "lung" in the middle of the Gothic Quarter, and it's a really cool place to visit.

PLAÇA DEL REI
The Conjunt Monumental de la Plaça del Rei in Barcelona is definitely one to watch. The magnificent royal palace, the Palau Reial Major, and its surrounding buildings form a beautiful square that is a true slice of Barcelona's Middle Ages charm.

ESTACIÓ DE FRANÇA
The Estació de França, Barcelona's magnificent main station, is a true showcase of good taste and monumental architecture. Amazingly, despite its size and beauty, this station is still operational today. It stands on the site of the old Granollers station, the very place where the first train from Barcelona to Mataró departed in 1848.

CIUTADELLA PARK
Built towards the end of the 19th century, it was the first place to be specially designed as a public park. BASÍLICA DE SANTA MARIA DEL MAR
The "cathedral of La Ribera" is an absolute gem of Gothic architecture. Its harmonious proportions and the serenity of the ensemble make it one of the most perfect examples of its kind.

MUSEU PICASSO
The museum is a must-visit for any traveller, as it showcases the incredible bond between the Malaga-born genius and the vibrant city of Barcelona.
